So I started working on a sculpture in my sculpture class and i thought i would post my progress. It will eventually be an Iguana Deer.

First I start by making an armature to form the skeleton of the sculpture.

And then i bulk it up with tape and paper, giving it shape and form.

Gotta do an update

So i'm not being as good as I was last year with the updating the blog! but don't worry as the year goes on i'm sure i'll get back in the groove.
So first things first. Eliza Frye's show was awesome.

The event was held at the Sirens Salon which i didn't realise till i got there that it was actually a hair salon .

They had drinks in the shampoo sinks!

They had artwork hanging on mirrors and between stations

They had prints for sale! I bought one for $15

I really want Eliza to make this into a print.
We had our first guest lecture of the year on Friday! The head of the Creative Talent Network and the animator of the magic carpet in Aladdin!

She talked a lot about the Creative Talent Network and the up coming CTN Expo.

Finally My birthday was on Friday!!

This card was done for me by Cory from Experimental animation. I think he should have just done the designs for my film instead of me.
For my birthday I presented Almost Famous in the palace! It was great we had a pretty good turnout; about 15 or so stayed through the whole movie. Overall a great birthday! thanks guys!

I'M BACK!!!

From outer space! I just walked in to find freshman all over the place. I should have brought home my art. I should have remembered were i packed the key. If i would have known in just one second I would be starting my new year!!

I'm back for my 2nd year at calarts! New Freshman have arrived and that means new ideas and new blood to invigorate the program. HURRAY Freshman! It's also nice to see a return of all the old faces! Not much is going on right now though. I kinda miss the intense programing we had our first week hear last year. There was always something to do. But this year i'm completely bored this first week! Tomorrow is class sign ups for my section! Hopefully all goes well. This week end Eliza Frye is going to be having a gallery showing at Siren's Salon from 7:00pm - 10:00pm. If you are in the LA area you should go check it out! She is insanely talented and deserves all of your support. You can see examples of her paintings along with her Eisner Nominated online comic "The Lady's Murder" at her website www.elizafrye.com.

Now i present to you as a celebration of my return to calarts this musical number! (With a special guest star)

And check out this advertisement i did when i was still going to CNM.

What I wish someone had told me before I came to Calarts

  • Get a coffee maker of some kind
  • For your first year don't worry about making a GREAT film. Just make a film.
  • Sketch
  • Make a portfolio, portfolio
  • Don't pull the "all-nighter" just to pull the "all-nighter"
  • Schedule in Breaks
  • Take an english 101 class
  • To get anything done with administration you need to ask more than three times.
