I got into RIT!!!! Now i just need a response from the rest of the schools i applied to. I'm a little more torn than i thought and i'm not quite sure what my number one choice is. So lets do some role playing shall we, and let's assume i get into all of the schools that i sent my drawings to:
Cal arts:
Pros
cal arts mafia alumni (need i say more)
close to "the buisness"
In the same state as pixar!
In the same state as Disney!
Amazing artistic atmosphere (you can draw on the walls)
Collaboration with other artists is encouraged
best character animation program
Huge emphasis on life drawing
tones of exposer
Cons
A clothing optional co ed pool (would you swim in it? lol)
bunch of stoner kids (can't really escape this in the art world though)
Dog eat dog atmosphere
there core classes kinda suck (so i've heard)
RIT
Pros
It's in Rochester
REALLY GOOD STOP MOTION PROGRAM
I love Rochester
the art floor in the dorm rooms is pretty cool
REALLY GOOD STOP MOTION PROGRAM
It's easy to change your emphasis
you get a little bit of everything your freshman year
It's an actual college experiance
they're core classes are really good
Blue sky is only a three hour drive away
Cons
It's in Rochester
Winter weather is truly winter weather
Not sure if i am an "east coast kid"
USC
pros
alumni is a who's who list (for their film program at least)
Great facilities
Experimental atmosphere in their animation program
core classes are great
It's in southern California
Cons
It's in southern California
It's in LA
It's VERY COMPETITIVE
It feels more like an east coast school than RIT does.
Any way thats were my thoughts are right now on that
now on to the important stuff
I watched American idol and saw the Beatles night and i have a few things to say:
First of all: DAVID A is now on my "i don't like you list". Not only did he not listen to the Beatles and only new the song he sang through the Stevie wonder cover he heard. HOW CAN YOU CALL YOURSELF A MUSICIAN AND NOT KNOW THE BEATLES!!! and don't blame it on age either. I can't think of a single person who has never heard a Beatles song.
on my favorites list is still Brooke white, but a surprise to me this week was Chikezie. He was amazing i actually rewound my dvr like three times i was so amazed. in case you didn't see it hear he is
Keep it up Chikezie

Buy stuff!
What I wish someone had told me before I came to Calarts
- Get a coffee maker of some kind
- For your first year don't worry about making a GREAT film. Just make a film.
- Sketch
- Make a portfolio, portfolio
- Don't pull the "all-nighter" just to pull the "all-nighter"
- Schedule in Breaks
- Take an english 101 class
- To get anything done with administration you need to ask more than three times.
